Memorial to Franz Kafka This little square in the exact middle of Prague's Dusni Street is exactly what the city's famous indigenous, publisher Franz Kafka, probably saw every time he seemed out of their screen. The historic Jewish Quarter in Prague is when Kafka invested the majority of his life - and frequently features in the books and brief stories. But despite that, for years there was clearly no permanent memorial into the guy whom changed the face of 20th century literature. The good news is, all that has changed.

"i believe this location is beautiful. Initially, i did not contemplate it by doing this. But later, we realised that possibly there clearly was not an improved location than this."

Scultpor Jaroslav Rona could be the composer of a bronze memorial to Franz Kafka which was recently put in here in Prague's Dusni, or Holy Spirit Street. He told me that location, in which a Catholic church and a synagogue stand close to one another, features a special value.

"Because within neighbourhood of two churches, after all one chapel and another synagogue, there is this tension amongst the two religions. And this is precisely their place, Kafka accustomed walk-around right here daily because he existed on other region of the street, at 27 Dusni Street. He walked around every day."

The tall black sculpture represents a headless male figure in a fit with a significantly smaller figure of Kafka sitting on his shoulders. Jaroslav Rona says he found motivation for the statue in Kafka's work.

"we read a lot of his things; about him and from him but this one is one thing extremely important. I believe that inside short-story, discover everything from his creation, everything extremely focused. This is exactly why I opted this basic logo - a person just who jumped a different one regarding arms."

The image of a young guy operating on a different one's shoulders during the night streets of Prague seems in Franz Kafka's early short story "definition of a Struggle".

Memorial to Franz Kafka "and from now on - with a flourish, as if it weren't the very first time - we leapt onto the shoulders of my acquaintance, and also by digging my fists into their straight back I urged him into a trot. But since he stumped ahead instead reluctantly or even stopped, we banged him inside belly several times with my boots, to make him much more lively. It worked and we arrived quickly enough into the interior of a massive but confirmed unfinished landscape."

The Prague Jewish Quarter, using its unique historic monuments, lures hundreds of thousands of tourists throughout the year. Most of them now take a look at the statue to take photos of themselves alongside the famous copywriter.
